As far as Yardley was concerned, this project should have been finished ages ago. It was precisely because Julian's grandmother kept interfering in the name of historical preservation that they were forced to alter the blueprints time and time again. Her constant delays had pushed the schedule back disastrously, preventing them from wrapping things up.
On this matter, his and Veronica's financial interests were entirely aligned. There was no way he was going to side with Julian and Scarlett.
All he cared about right now was getting the project completed, operational, and generating revenue so he could recoup his investment. The rest was none of his business.
His throat was tight, his voice dangerously low. "Julian, I'd suggest you leave yourself an out."
Hearing that, Julian immediately understood where Yardley stood. A faint smirk of mockery touched his lips. "When your crew was blasting an elderly woman with industrial hoses and violently suppressing heritage preservation, did you consider leaving yourself an out?"
"My grandmother spent months trying to negotiate with you. She offered solutions that would protect the pagoda without disrupting your overall development. But you refused to adjust your blueprints or listen to a single word of professional advice."
"If both sides had just compromised a little, this could have been resolved peacefully. Instead, you ignored every warning and snuck out here in the middle of the night to dig illegally."
Julian had been quietly monitoring the situation the entire time, so he knew exactly what was going on.
His calm, irrefutable logic left Yardley temporarily speechless. Instinctively, Yardley glanced at his wife. "Veronica, is this true?"
Seeing that Yardley was taking her side, her arrogance returned full force. She crossed her arms and scoffed. "We're running a business, not a charity."
