Had their relationship really progressed at such breakneck speed?
Unable to hold himself back, Yardley was just about to step forward.
Suddenly, a flashy Ferrari roared past him and came to an abrupt, tire-screeching halt right beside Scarlett.
The window rolled down, and Yardley distinctly heard the man in the driver's seat call out Scarlett's name loudly.
Scarlett quickly leaned over, poking her head into the window. He couldn't hear what they were discussing, but he caught the sound of laughter drifting from the car.
Was she really here to get a divorce?
Why was she so happy?
And who was this man driving the Ferrari?
The car looked brand new—the latest model that had just hit the market. Anyone who could get their hands on it right now was undoubtedly loaded.
Julian wouldn't buy this type of sports car. The kind of person who would go for this was usually a playboy like Gordon Wyatt.
Had Scarlett already caught the eye of some rich heir in Bay City? She wasn't even divorced yet, and he was already pulling up in a Ferrari to court her?
Yardley's face turned completely green.
A second later, he watched a man dressed in trendy designer clothes step out of the car. He was holding a bouquet of yellow roses, walked straight up to Scarlett, and handed them to her.
Yardley felt a bomb go off in his head.
He was still her legal husband, yet someone was handing her flowers right in front of him at the entrance to City Hall?
His temples throbbing with fury, Yardley stormed right up to them.
And yet, in his moment of agony, Scarlett was blatantly accepting someone else's affection just to slap him in the face?
After five years of marriage and a deep relationship, they were standing at the edge of divorce—did she really feel no sadness at all?
He stared intensely into her eyes, desperate to find even the slightest trace of sorrow.
But there was none. When Scarlett looked at him, her eyes were completely apathetic.
"Provoked by this?" she replied coldly. "I guess that just means your heart isn't strong enough."
Talia delivered a ruthless follow-up attack. "Exactly! A single bouquet made you have a meltdown? Did you ever stop to think how our Scarlett felt when you spent her entire postpartum recovery period keeping Sylvia company in her room?"
A sharp pain pierced Yardley's chest, but he was completely powerless to argue back.
Giving him one last venomous glare, Talia grabbed Scarlett's arm, turned on her heel, and marched straight toward the doors of City Hall.
