He Lost Me to His Best Friend novel Chapter 255

Yardley's heart skipped a beat. "Melanie? Where are you? Why do I hear a baby crying?"

Melanie's voice was casual, dripping with careless amusement. "Oh, that? I'm holding your kid. I told you to get a paternity test, but you kept dragging your feet about getting the kid from Scarlett. So, I had to take matters into my own hands and grab her myself! I just plucked a couple of hairs from her head, and she won't stop screaming. This little thing is a nightmare to deal with!"

Yardley couldn't believe his ears. Clarissa had just nearly ruined everything with a forged contract, and before he could even process that, Melanie had gone and kidnapped his daughter?!

His brow twitched violently. "Melanie, are you out of your damn mind?! You... you kidnapped her?! What the hell is wrong with you?! That is my daughter! I am warning you, if you let a single scratch happen to her, I will destroy you!"

On the other end, Melanie sounded completely unbothered. "I already sent her hair and your toothbrush to the lab. We should have the results soon. Seriously, chill out. We don't even know if she's yours yet. Once we know she's actually a Flynn, then you can threaten to destroy me."

"And if she isn't yours, the person you should really be destroying is Scarlett. Hahaha... I can't wait to see the look on her face. This is going to be amazing."

Behind Melanie's voice and the baby's shrieks, the heavy, thumping bass of loud music and clinking glasses flooded through the phone.

Yardley was seeing red. He roared into the receiver, "Where the hell did you take my daughter?! Why is it so loud?!"

"I'm at a club right now," Melanie replied breezily. "Thought I'd let your daughter soak up some of the vibes. Get her some musical culture."

"I told you to calm down. It's fine. A baby crying a little isn't going to kill her. Let her cry!"

Yardley completely lost his mind, abandoning all restraint. "Where the fuck are you?!"
