Scarlett knew, without a shadow of a doubt, that this had to be Yardley's doing.
She lunged at him, her hand flying through the air to deliver a vicious, full-force slap across his face.
This time, Yardley didn't flinch. He took the hit straight on. The sharp crack echoed in the air, leaving five bright red finger marks burning into his skin.
"Yardley Flynn!" Scarlett screamed, her voice tearing at the seams. "Did you order this?! Did you have your people snatch Dawn?!"
Yardley remained dead silent. He knew exactly what had happened, but he couldn't say it. If he admitted Melanie had taken the baby, he would instantly make his sister a prime target for Scarlett's wrath. He needed to find Dawn and assess the situation before he threw his family to the wolves.
"Say something!" Scarlett shrieked. "Was it you, or was it your psychotic family?!"
"How dare you?! Do you really think the Flynns are untouchable in Bay City? Do you think you can play God?!"
"Listen to me very carefully," she spat, pointing a trembling finger right in his face. "If my daughter has so much as a single scratch on her, I swear I will make every single member of your family pay! I will destroy you all!"
Yardley stood completely still, rooted to the spot like a cold, impenetrable wall, offering absolutely no response.
Seeing his stony silence only cemented Scarlett's suspicions. Yardley definitely knew something, but he was choosing to protect his family over telling her the truth. His daughter had been snatched in broad daylight, and his first instinct wasn't to panic for her safety—it was to cover for the Flynns.
Good. Fantastic.
Scarlett let out a chilling, broken laugh, nodding her head. Every last shred of warmth or mercy she had ever held for this man vanished from her eyes. Without another word, she spun on her heel and sprinted toward the parking lot.
Talia, who was already terrified out of her mind, chased frantically after her.
"Scarlett, please! I know you need to find Dawn, but we can't die on the way there!"
"Holy shit, that was close!"
Talia clutched her chest the entire ride, screaming at every near-miss, but Scarlett ignored her, her eyes locked dead ahead. A thirty-minute drive took exactly ten.
The second the car slammed to a halt, Scarlett threw the door open. Moving like a hurricane, she sprinted straight into the Flynn Group headquarters. Because her fingerprints hadn't been wiped from the system yet, she blew past every security checkpoint.
With a breathless, pale, and half-dead Talia trailing behind her, Scarlett stormed directly into Clarissa's office.
Without a single word, Scarlett vaulted onto the mahogany desk with the agility of a predator. She grabbed Clarissa by the collar of her silk blouse, her eyes burning with enough rage to burn the building to the ground.
