He had finally found her weakness.
Dawn was Scarlett's Achilles' heel. As long as he held the baby, she would eventually have to yield. Every second away from her child was pure agony for her.
Yardley convinced himself that Scarlett's stubborn pride wouldn't last. By tomorrow morning, she'd likely show up at the gates, gifts in hand, ready to apologize to Eleanor and play the dutiful wife.
The thought brought a triumphant smirk to his lips.
"That's exactly how it should be done."
Franklin's gravelly voice drifted from the shadows of the courtyard. He stepped into the light, his hands clasped behind his back, a look of profound approval etched across his weathered face.
"When dealing with women, you only have two options. You either coddle them, or you break them. Since she refused to be coddled, it was time you stepped up like a real man and crushed that arrogance of hers."
Yardley turned to his father and gave a slow nod. "You're right, Dad."
"With a woman as stubborn as Scarlett, the only language she understands is power. She thought she could do whatever she pleased. I had to remind her that I can paralyze her life with a single word."
Franklin patted his son's shoulder, his eyes glinting with ruthless corporate calculation.
"Good. The men of the Flynn family do not let women lead them around by a leash. I'll have my people handle the mess with your sisters. Your only job right now is to keep Scarlett in check and force her to accept reality."
"Once she lowers her head, we can overlook her little rebellion today."
Franklin paused, his tone shifting into pure business. "Flynn Group's stock has been volatile lately. The market is getting suspicious. If we can patch things up with Scarlett and use the baby's welcome gala to project family unity, it will only benefit the company."
Hearing his father calculate the PR value of his infant daughter left a bitter taste in Yardley's mouth.
He had always despised his father's cold-blooded, profit-driven narcissism. He had sworn never to become him. Yet, he knew better than anyone that the stunt he just pulled on Scarlett was exactly the kind of manipulative tactic he used to find so repulsive.
