"Well? Where's the proof? Didn't you say you had proof? Show it to me."
Julian furrowed his brow, his expression grave. "You'd still rather believe her over Scarlett and me, wouldn't you?"
Fists tightly clenched, Yardley's eyes burned with volcanic anger. "I only believe what I can see."
Julian's expression turned frigid. "Fine. Then we have nothing left to say."
It was obvious Yardley intended to protect Sylvia. This was his territory, and Julian saw no point in staying. He turned to leave.
But the moment he turned his back, Yardley suddenly lunged, throwing a brutal punch squarely at Julian's right shoulder.
"You boldly sleep with my wife, barge into my hospital room, slander my family... and you think you can just walk away? Not a chance!"
"Old debts, new debts—we are settling all of it right now!"
"I treated you like a brother, and you tried to steal my wife!"
"I've tolerated you for far too long!"
Caught off guard, Julian was violently shoved to the floor, and Yardley rained several vicious punches on his face.
Driven by pure hatred, the blows were fast and heavy, the raw impact leaving Julian dizzy and struggling to open his eyes.
Just as he braced himself to fight back, Sylvia dashed to the door and screamed for the bodyguards stationed nearby.
Two large men rushed in, pinning Julian's arms and legs. Immobilized, he took several more hard hits to the face.
Only when blood began pooling at the corner of Julian's mouth did Sylvia panic, afraid of the legal repercussions. "Yardley, stop! Don't kill him! The Croft family will destroy us!"
Reason finally seeped back into Yardley's brain. He uncurled his bloody fists, staring coldly down at the battered man on the floor. His voice was low and lethal.
"I'm warning you. Stay the hell away from Scarlett."
"If I catch you two entangled like this again, I will end you."
"The Croft family might be powerful, but my family isn't something you can easily topple! If you want a war, let's go to war!"
"But you'd better weigh your options. Ask yourself if burning it all down over a woman is really worth it."
