He Lost Me to His Best Friend novel Chapter 326

Had Yardley threatened her with something?

A massive wave of anxiety washed over Julian. His first instinct was to jump in his car and follow them, but then he remembered that they were technically still married. He couldn't overstep his bounds just yet.

Still deeply concerned for her safety, he quickly typed out a text: "Scarlett, if you need any help, just say the word. I'm here."

When the text came through, Scarlett was sitting quietly in the backseat, as still and cold as a marble statue.

Yardley watched her profile, a flicker of satisfaction warming his chest. He knew her boundaries; he didn't push his luck by touching her again. He just sat there, quietly keeping her company.

He knew better than anyone that playing dirty was a desperate last resort. His ultimate goal was to win back her heart and return to the days when she adored him.

The car pulled smoothly through the gates of Orchard Villa.

The entire property had been completely renovated. The yard was now lush with vibrant greenery and flowers. Inside, the stark, cold black-and-white minimalist decor had been entirely ripped out, replaced with warm, inviting natural wood tones and cozy furnishings.

Yardley gently placed a hand on her shoulder. "Welcome home, Mrs. Flynn."

"You mentioned more than once that the furniture was too cold and clinical. I had everything swapped out to match the style you always wanted."

Scarlett smoothly stepped out of his grasp, her expression entirely blank. "It's your house. Do whatever you want with it."

Ignoring her icy demeanor, Yardley gently brushed a stray hair from her cheek. "Are you hungry? I had Leah make all your favorites. Have a bite before you sleep, okay?"

He helped her out of her coat, hanging it by the door, then crouched down to help her swap her shoes for a pair of white, fuzzy slippers. He wore the matching black pair.
