When Talia's name flashed on her screen, Scarlett ignored a callback from Yardley and answered her best friend.
"Scarlett! Where are you? I went to your apartment and you weren't there!"
"I'm at Azure Estates right now," Scarlett replied calmly. "It's quiet here. Nobody can bother me."
Talia immediately let out an ear-piercing scream.
"What?!"
"When did you move into Azure Estates?! That's literally the most exclusive billionaire neighborhood in the entire country! Scarlett, you have to be messing with me!"
Scarlett chuckled, pressing a finger to her lips as if Talia could see her.
"Keep your voice down."
Lowering her tone, she confessed.
"My family arranged it. Once things settle down, I'll bring you over for a tour."
Talia was vibrating with excitement.
"Settle down? Scarlett, you don't love me anymore! You're living the high life and leaving me behind!"
Scarlett laughed, thoroughly amused. "No, no. It was just a rushed move. I didn't have time to tell you."
Just as Scarlett finished her sentence, Talia gasped again.
"Scarlett, the internet is blowing up! Someone just dropped an incredibly juicy blind item practically spelling out the affair between Yardley and Sylvia!"
"Did you do this behind my back too? You're making moves so fast I can't even keep up with you anymore!"
Raising an eyebrow, Scarlett smiled and refreshed the trending page on her tablet.
Sure enough, Stellan's efficiency was unmatched. The story was already the number one trend.
Even without releasing the photos and audio yet, the story dominated the headlines. The hashtags were brutally targeted. Anyone with half a brain could read between the lines and see exactly what was going on between Yardley and Sylvia.
"I had someone help me," Scarlett said. "Talia, I'm done holding back. I'm taking them all down."
Talia's voice pitched even higher with thrill.
Right then, Sylvia called him, her voice choked with tears.
"Yardley, did you see the news? Who would write something so horrible, making our perfectly innocent relationship sound so dirty?"
Yardley let out an exhausted sigh but remained silent.
"It has to be Scarlett!"
Sylvia's voice suddenly sharpened with absolute certainty. "Nobody else would ever think of us like that! Yardley, what do we do? My mother-in-law saw it and immediately called me demanding answers. Now the entire Croft family knows, and even Julian called to ask what the hell is going on. How am I supposed to explain this?"
Yardley aggressively massaged his throbbing temples.
"Calm down. I'll have my PR team bury the search results immediately. I will handle this."
Sylvia's voice was timid and fragile.
"Yardley, don't you think it was Scarlett? I just know it was her."
"Enough!" Yardley interrupted coldly. "Don't make wild accusations without proof. I'll go talk to Scarlett to confirm it."
