He Lost Me to His Best Friend novel Chapter 411

Scarlett swiftly opened a few trending social media apps. Even though rumors and smear campaigns about them had been flying everywhere just hours ago, every single trace of the negative press had been scrubbed clean.

As she stared at her screen in confusion, there was a knock on the office door. Julian Croft walked in.

"Scarlett, did you have your people wipe the negative PR online?"

"I thought it was you? I didn't do anything..."

They exchanged a blank, bewildered look.

Julian paused. "Could it be your brother?"

Scarlett immediately texted Bill, but the reply she got was a firm no.

"It wasn't my brother, it wasn't you, and it wasn't me. Then who? Who has that kind of power and the goodwill to help us out?"

For a moment, Scarlett was completely baffled, and Julian was equally perplexed.

While they were still trying to figure it out, a gentle, melodic voice drifted in from the doorway.

"Julian, Scarlett, you two have been working so hard. You must be starving by now, right? Come, come. I had the chef prepare a rich, nourishing stew. You need to keep your strength up."

Julian and Scarlett looked over in unison.

Elara Chapman walked in, her face bright with a warm smile. She wore an elegant white gown paired with a champagne fringe shawl. Her hair was swept up in a flawless, vintage chignon, and the pearl earrings dangling from her lobes gave her a soft, radiant glow. Her entire aura was graceful and refined, instantly putting people at ease.

It really takes a gorgeous mother to produce such a handsome son...

Scarlett looked at Elara, then at Julian, feeling that the mother-son duo was truly a feast for the eyes. Just standing there, smiling without saying a word, they felt like a breath of fresh spring air.

Julian stepped forward and took the insulated container from her. He looked at her suspiciously. "Mom, what are you doing here?"

Elara gave him a playful glare. "Delivering some warmth and care, obviously. Can't you see I brought food?"

She hadn't expected the details of her disastrous marriage with Yardley to be so widely known that even Elara was caught up on the specifics.

"Mom, you never listen to gossip. Where did you hear all this?" Julian asked as he sat down, pouring himself a small bowl and eating while waiting for an answer.

Elara shot him a side-eye. "Do I even need to ask around? I know exactly what kind of person Corinne Quinn is."

"Back when you were supposed to marry Sylvia, our two families sat down for dinner. The moment Corinne opened her mouth, making those outrageous demands, I knew she was bad news. Sylvia's actual parents hadn't even said a word, and there Corinne was, bragging non-stop about how precious and pampered their Sylvia was."

"For the wedding gifts, we gave ten million in cash, custom gold jewelry, a Vacheron Constantin watch, a million-dollar diamond ring, limited-edition wedding bands, and a three-million-dollar Ferrari. And she still had the nerve to say we weren't being generous enough!"

"And what happened? On the day she married into our family, her so-called wedding gift was just a few cheap blankets!"

When Elara wasn't speaking, she looked like a serene, untouchable goddess.

But the moment she opened her mouth, her tone, expressions, and dramatic flair were straight out of a stand-up comedy routine. Her vivid storytelling and ruthless roasting immediately made Scarlett burst into laughter.
