Sylvia's lips trembled. She pointed a finger at Elara, trying to speak, but no words came out.
Corinne and Gwen were utterly dumbfounded, staring at Elara as if she had sprouted a second head.
The only reason they had been so bold in accusing Julian of abandoning his wife and child was that they were absolutely certain the Crofts would never publicly air their dirty laundry.
After all, admitting your son had been cheated on, and that he had been raising someone else's kid—that was the ultimate humiliation for any family.
If the Crofts hadn't been worried about the scandal, why else would they have chosen to settle the divorce quietly and even give Sylvia fifty million dollars in hush money?
But now...
They never imagined in their wildest dreams that Elara would just lay it all out for the world to see. For a moment, they had no idea what to do, instinctively lowering their heads in shame.
Elara glared at them coldly. "Originally, this was our family's private disgrace, and we had no intention of making it public. My son is too kind. During the divorce, he even considered the child's innocence and gave Sylvia fifty million dollars in compensation. I'd like to see how many men in this country could show that kind of grace!"
"During the five years my son was married to her, our family spent over a hundred million dollars just on their wedding! The Stetsons kept tens of millions in wedding gifts and never returned a single cent! Not only that, but my son gave her his entire salary for five years straight. My husband and I transferred a six-figure allowance to her every single month to help them out. From the time that child was born, we did absolutely everything in our power to be a good family to them!"
Elara was getting more agitated, her voice growing louder and more passionate.
