He Lost Me to His Best Friend novel Chapter 447

Watching his retreating figure, Scarlett felt the blood freeze in her veins.

She bit her lip hard, desperately trying to keep her rising panic in check.

It was glaringly obvious now.

He was dead set on using Dawn as leverage to force her into staying married.

It was sickening.

Absolutely despicable!

But did he honestly believe she had no way to fight back?

Clenching her fists, she walked over to a quiet corner of the hospital corridor and dialed Chatwin Wyatt.

"Chatwin, how long do I have to wait before I can file for divorce a second time?"

After quickly pulling up her case files, he answered confidently, "Three more months."

"I sent you his proposed supplemental agreement. Would a judge actually support those demands?"

Chatwin hesitated for a few seconds before sighing.

"Look, Scarlett, it's like this: because the baby is under two, the odds are heavily in favor of granting custody to the mother. However, his demands aren't entirely baseless. A judge might entertain them. It all depends on how the courtroom battle plays out."

"If he hires top-tier legal representation specializing in high-conflict divorces, taking the litigation route is going to drag this out for a very long time. You're not just fighting over a toddler; you're arguing over a massive division of assets. The court is going to tread extremely carefully."

Her throat went dry. "So you're saying if he wants to drag this out, he can keep me trapped in this legal limbo indefinitely?"

"Yes," Chatwin admitted. "If the other party wants to stall a divorce, they have a million ways to do it. That addendum was clearly drafted by a highly professional legal team."

Her eyes went completely cold. She gripped her phone so tightly her knuckles turned white.

"Right. I understand."

Standing near the ICU, she stared out the window. The night outside was thick and black, perfectly reflecting the bottomless chill in her eyes.
