He Lost Me to His Best Friend novel Chapter 493

Scarlett's words dropped like a bomb, instantly draining the color from both Yardley's and Clarissa's faces.

The sharp, aggressive glare Clarissa had worn just moments ago faltered. "Dawn needs a bone marrow match?"

Scarlett met her gaze head-on. "That's right. Since you're her direct blood relatives, the chances of a successful match are pretty high. And since you're so adamant about claiming she has Flynn blood running through her veins, I expect your entire family to get tested. Whoever's a match, donates." She tilted her head slightly. "I assume you don't have a problem with that?"

Clarissa choked on her words, instinctively shooting a panicked look at her brother.

Yardley stood rooted to the spot, a flash of genuine shock hidden in the depths of his dark eyes. A moment later, his expression smoothed out. "Fine. I'll do it."

Clarissa immediately grabbed his sleeve, giving it a hard tug. She jerked her head toward the door, her eyes frantically signaling that they needed to talk in private.

Catching her drift, Yardley followed his sister out into the hallway.

Scarlett watched their retreating backs, her eyes narrowing with thick, undisguised sarcasm.

Talia leaned in close, lowering her voice to a conspiratorial whisper. "Scarlett, but Dawn doesn't actually need... Weren't you just lying to them?"

Scarlett let out a cold, cynical laugh. "Watch. By the end of this, not a single person in that family will actually step up to the plate. Even if he genuinely wants to do it, the rest of them will fight tooth and nail to stop him."

Comprehension dawned on Talia's face, and she nodded vigorously. "I believe it! That whole family is incredibly selfish. They couldn't even be bothered to care about Dawn when she was perfectly healthy, let alone now!"

Julian chimed in softly from the side. "And if by some miracle one of them actually agrees to go through with it, I can arrange for a doctor to handle the results behind the scenes. But that's only if they're genuinely willing."
