Escorted by the police, Yardley limped out of the holding area, enduring the stares of other detainees.

Waiting for him in the lobby was his eldest sister, Clarissa Flynn.

The moment their eyes met, Yardley looked away, so overwhelmed with shame he wished the floor would open up and swallow him.

Clarissa already knew everything. She knew he had been arrested in nothing but his swimwear. She silently handed him a bag of casual clothes.

Fists clenched, he silently followed Clarissa toward the exit.

Seeing how utterly destroyed he looked, Clarissa held her tongue and merely sighed. "I don't understand. You never go to these kinds of parties. Why on earth did you..."

Yardley remained silent. He had asked himself that question a thousand times.

When he didn't respond, Clarissa continued, "Thirty-two people were arrested last night. Anyone who tested clean has been released. There are about seven or eight still in custody. Melanie and Sylvia are still locked up."

Yardley assumed she was there to gloat. He tightened his jaw, his voice hoarse. "Are you here to laugh at me?"

Scarlett gave him a frosty look. "Sorry. I really don't have the time for you."

Clarissa glared at Scarlett with deep suspicion. "Then why are you here? Don't tell me you came to pick me up."

Yardley's heart sank at the question. Given Scarlett's current attitude, he knew there was zero chance she was there for him. He was just glad she wasn't kicking him while he was down.

Scarlett didn't even bother to respond, looking thoroughly bored by their presence.
