Julian stepped in, his voice deep and steady. "She's here to pick someone up, yes. Just not you."
As he spoke, the side doors opened, and Jacqueline walked out with Helen and the other employees.
The moment Scarlett saw her mother, her eyes welled up. She rushed forward, her voice catching. "Mom... I'm so sorry you had to go through this."
Jacqueline smiled gracefully, looking completely unfazed. "It's fine, sweetheart. I knew I was innocent, and I knew my staff wouldn't do anything illegal. Clearly, we were framed."
Knowing there were police officers nearby, Jacqueline raised her voice slightly. "This is why we must always trust the justice system! If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear. Those who plot to destroy innocent people will eventually face the consequences of their own actions!"
Though her words were meant for Scarlett, Jacqueline’s sharp gaze was locked directly onto Yardley and Clarissa.
The detention center wasn't large. Last night, Sylvia and Melanie had been locked in the cell right next to hers. Jacqueline didn't need to ask questions to know exactly who had orchestrated this entire mess. She hadn't panicked when she was arrested because she knew Scarlett would move heaven and earth to get her out.
And her daughter had delivered.
Jacqueline looked at Scarlett with deep pride. Her once naive daughter had grown into a brilliant, fiercely capable woman she could completely rely on.
