Scarlett had been sound asleep when her phone started blowing up with notifications.
First, it was Zara, sending a rapid-fire string of photos showing Yardley holding Veronica. Scarlett just scoffed, her heart entirely unbothered.
But right as she was drifting off again, both Talia and Gordon forwarded her a new set of images. It was Veronica, shamelessly taking selfies in her former marital bedroom.
Talia called immediately, practically screaming into the phone. "Holy sh*t! Scarlett, does Yardley have absolutely no shame?!"
"He drags his feet and refuses to sign the divorce papers, but he publicly brings a woman back to your house and lets her sleep in your bed?! Could he be any more revolting?!"
Well... any lingering sleepiness Scarlett had was officially gone.
"Is it really that surprising that he'd pull something like this?" she asked, her voice cool and detached. "What do you expect us to do? Go over there and catch them in the act?"
Compared to Scarlett's absolute calm, Talia sounded like she wanted to commit murder. "Why the hell not?! Technically, you two are still legally married! Since he's so eager to make a fool of himself, let's give him a show! He wants to trap you in this marriage? Fine! Let's go bust down the door! I'll drive you right now!"
A sharp, calculating smile touched Scarlett's lips. "Forget it. Storming over there in the middle of the night just makes me look desperate, and it'll only stroke his ego into thinking I still care."
"But this is the perfect chance to get hard proof!" Talia protested, stomping her foot on the other end of the line. "Are you really just going to let him get away with it? You're still legally married, and he has the nerve to pull this stunt! How can you swallow this?!"
Scarlett's smile deepened into something cold and ruthless. "I have no intention of swallowing anything. But I have a better way. I installed hidden cameras in those rooms a while back. Why bother showing up when the cameras have already recorded everything?"
Talia gasped, her frustration instantly dissolving into a wicked cackle. "Hahaha! That's my girl! Why didn't you say so earlier?! I was worried sick for nothing! Go, go download the footage before it gets deleted!"
