He Lost Me to His Best Friend novel Chapter 589

Sylvia answered the phone, instantly going on the offensive.

"Julian, did you put these goons outside Gordon's room?"

"You're outside Gordon's room right now? Why?"

Now that Sylvia had completely given up on Julian, she reverted to her usual entitled, arrogant tone.

"Gordon is my friend. I heard he was in an accident, so I came to visit. Is that a crime?"

"Tell your gorillas to let me in right now! I need to see how he's doing!"

She sounded entirely justified, as if she had every right to be there.

Julian's voice was deadly calm. "How did you know Gordon was in an accident?"

"His parents are abroad. There are only a handful of us who know what happened, and we haven't told anyone. So, who told you?"

Sylvia froze. It took her several seconds to recover, her voice suddenly defensive.

"I... I obviously saw a video online! The guy in the clip looked just like him, so I figured it out!"

"Stop interrogating me and tell them to let me in! If you don't, I'm going to cause a scene!"

As she yelled, Sylvia glanced through the small window in the door and saw Gordon open his eyes. She instantly started pounding on the glass.

"Gordon! It's me, Sylvia! Are you awake?"

Scarlett and Julian exchanged a knowing look.

The next second, Julian slammed on the gas, speeding straight toward the hospital.

Seeing Gordon awake, Sylvia completely abandoned any pretense and started screaming in the hallway.

The guards were just about to drag her away.

Hearing Sylvia arguing with the guards and banging on the door, he had quietly told the nurse to let her in.

Sylvia set the fruit basket down and immediately rushed to his side, grabbing his hand.

"Gordon, you... how did you get hurt this badly? Oh my god, it must hurt so much!"

Her tone was incredibly overly dramatic, her eyes brimming with fake tears. It made Gordon uncomfortable.

He subtly pulled his hand away. "It hurts a bit, yeah. But that's what happens in a car accident. Sometimes you just can't avoid them."

Sylvia's hands awkwardly hovered in the air. She sat on the edge of the bed, leaning in and lowering her voice.

"Do you really think it was an accident?"

"Don't you think it's possible that Scarlett and Julian pissed someone off, and you were just collateral damage? A warning?"
