"Ah! Let me go! Who are you? What are you doing?"
She shrieked in terror, thrashing wildly, but the attacker pinned her down effortlessly.
It was a tall, heavily built man wearing a black trench coat.
He didn't say a word. His eyes, glinting under the moonlight, were bone-chillingly cold and radiated a terrifying malice.
Before Sylvia could make out his features, the man jerked her up and aggressively dragged her toward the crashing waves.
"No... No! Help! Yardley!"
She kicked frantically. Her high heels flew off into the darkness, and her nails tore deep, chaotic gouges into the sand.
The freezing ocean water instantly rushed over her ankles, then her knees.
"Gurgle... gurgle..."
Before she even had time to process what was happening, the man shoved her head violently beneath the pitch-black, freezing waves.
"Cough... cough!"
Sylvia violently choked down mouthfuls of bitter saltwater, her lungs burning as if they were on fire.
She thrashed desperately, her hands clawing wildly at the water.
But the man had no intention of letting her off easily. Keeping a firm grip on her head, he plunged her underwater again and again.
"Have you had enough?" the man's icy voice hissed in her ear.
"If you've had enough, keep a low profile from now on. Stop throwing your weight around."
Sylvia couldn't even speak. She felt like she was going to die. The overwhelming terror of drowning completely shattered her sanity.
"Whimper... sob..."
The man didn't intend to kill her. After dealing out a brutal punishment, he tossed her onto the shallow shore like a sack of garbage.
Terrified, she scrambled to lift her head, desperate to see the face of the monster who had attacked her.
But the man was wearing a mask. He simply stood over her, his eyes filled with absolute disgust and a stark warning, before he turned and vanished into the darkness of the night.
