Veronica stood there with her arms crossed, glaring at Scarlett. Her eyes were full of mockery, dripping with an innate sense of superiority.
Scarlett didn't move an inch, not even bothering to look up. "Judging by those thick thighs of yours, I definitely couldn't outweigh you."
Veronica's face instantly drained of color.
She had a classic pear-shaped figure—slender on top, but bottom-heavy. Normally, she wore long gowns to hide it, but for today's corporate setting, she had opted for a tailored blazer and a short skirt, which put her biggest insecurity on full display.
Scarlett's words hit the bullseye. Veronica was instantly flushed with humiliation and rage.
"Scarlett, what... what the hell are you talking about?!"
"I was just trying to do you a favor and remind you that you don't belong here! I didn't realize you were so ungrateful!"
Scarlett slowly looked up, her tone perfectly flat. "And where exactly do you think I should be sitting?"
Veronica pointed sharply toward the back of the room, sneering.
"With your status, you have no right to attend an elite executive summit like this. I'm guessing the organizers only let you in out of pity, meaning you belong in the very last row."
She paused, looking Scarlett up and down with disgust.
"Don't think I don't know what you're doing. You just wanted to dress up and look pretty to get Yardley's attention."
Veronica glanced smugly back toward his seat, letting out an exaggerated sigh.
"It's such a pity. His entire focus is on winning this election. He doesn't have the time or energy to even look at you."
Instead of getting angry, Scarlett simply smiled, looking at Veronica like she was a clown performing a bad trick.
What the other woman didn't know was that Scarlett was only here because the executive committee had already secretly guaranteed her the presidency. Today was just a formality.
Otherwise, given her personality, she wouldn't have bothered walking through the front door.
