He Lost Me to His Best Friend novel Chapter 701

Stellan's gaze swept over Julian's face before landing on the dining table. It was laden with a dazzling, steaming array of gourmet breakfast dishes. His expression instantly contorted into a colorful mix of shock and utter defeat.

In comparison, the simple breakfast pie and soy milk he had spent an hour waiting in line for looked completely pathetic.

"Julian... did you really have to go this hard?" Stellan gritted out, his voice dripping with exasperation.

Julian raised an elegant eyebrow, feigning innocence. "I'm not quite sure what you mean, Stellan."

"I just figured since we're taking Dawn to her checkup today, I'd bring some food over. I didn't expect you to be so... dedicated."

Stellan's eye twitched. "I'm the one driving Scarlett to the clinic today."

Julian let out a slow, thoughtful "Oh," then turned his gaze to Scarlett. "Scarlett, would you prefer Stellan to act as your chauffeur, or would you like me to accompany you?" He paused for a beat before adding gently, "Besides, Dawn definitely prefers me. Every time Stellan tries to hold her, she cries."

Stellan's jaw nearly hit the floor. He hadn't expected Julian to play the innocent, manipulative card quite so effortlessly.

But he couldn't deny that Julian was right. Perhaps it was his imposing, muscular build that gave off a slightly intimidating vibe, but little Dawn was not a fan.

Every time he reached out to cuddle her, she would either fiercely shove him away or burst into tears, leaving him completely helpless.

Deep down, he adored the kid.

Who could possibly resist such a soft, chubby-cheeked little angel?

Standing nearby, Jacqueline took in the silent, crackling tension between the two young men. She couldn't help but cover her mouth, letting out a soft chuckle.

Her eyes danced with amusement as she watched the drama unfold. "Stellan, I actually love the pies from that place. Put them on the table; we'll share."

Completely engrossed in the mouthwatering spread, Scarlett hadn't noticed the heavy scent of gunpowder in the air.
