It was Kane Stetson.
He was back in Bay City!
Sylvia was so paralyzed by shock that by the time she gathered her wits and leaned toward the glass to get a second look, the light had turned green and the car had sped away.
"What is it? What did you see, Sylvia?" Craig asked, startled by her sudden shriek.
Still hyperventilating, Sylvia forced out a lie.
"N-Nothing. I just thought I saw an old friend in that car."
The moment the words left her mouth, her phone buzzed.
It was a text from Kane.
"Sylvia, I'm back in the country. Don't worry. As long as I'm here, no one is ever going to bully you again."
Reading the message, Sylvia felt a sickening cocktail of terror and twisted joy.
She was terrified because Kane's return meant he would inevitably slide back into her life, bringing with him the suffocating, chilling shadow of control that always left her paralyzed with fear.
But she was overjoyed because with Kane back in the country, he would undoubtedly unleash a barrage of ruthless tactics to destroy Scarlett and Julian, utterly dismantling Scarlett's perfect little life.
After a moment of calculation, Sylvia quickly typed a reply.
"I'll find you when the time is right."

Dawn's medical charts were flawless. She was above average in height and weight, and her reflexes were perfect.
She was also an incredibly sweet-tempered baby. She barely fussed the entire time, even offering up gummy smiles whenever the nurses played with her.
Scarlett had started the day in a fantastic mood, only to have it completely soured by the run-in with Yardley's entourage.
After bringing Dawn home, Scarlett headed straight to the office with Julian.
The second she walked through the doors, Irvin Croft practically skipped over, handing her an elegant envelope with a massive grin.
