After two seconds of shock, a bright smile bloomed on Scarlett's face.
"Oh, it's you! I thought you weren't coming..."
Julian didn't answer immediately.
He looked down at her, his deep eyes filled with a longing that seemed to pool in his gaze.
Scarlett felt her face heat up under his intense stare and instinctively looked away.
Julian finally retracted his gaze and smoothly pulled the heavy suitcase from her grasp, setting it on the ground.
He had been running around for days handling family business, barely making it back in time before she left the country.
Now, seeing her flushed cheeks and hearing the unmistakable joy in her voice, Julian couldn't help but lean in slightly closer.
"I knew you were moving to Country A, so I rushed over to be your personal heavy-lifter," he said.
He casually lifted the suitcase with one hand, playfully taking an exaggerated breath. His eyes sparkled with amusement. "This is heavy. Are you smuggling gold bars?"
Scarlett couldn't help but laugh and explained, "No, it's a giant box of homemade food my mom packed for my brother. I told her Country A has everything, but she insisted her cooking is different. So..."
She threw her hands up in mock defeat. Looking up, her eyes locked with Julian's once more.
They both broke into an effortless, knowing smile.
Looking into his smiling eyes, Scarlett felt an overwhelming sense of security and adoration washing over her.
They stared at each other for a long moment, their gazes tangled together like spun sugar, neither willing to look away.
Until Stellan pushed a luggage cart over and caught them in the act.
He stopped in his tracks, his expression suddenly tightening.
It took him a few seconds to process the scene, a flash of self-deprecation crossing his eyes.
Scarlett had never looked at him the way she was looking at Julian... In that regard, he had to admit, he couldn't compete.
Scarlett pretended to glance around but discreetly stole a peek at him, her breath hitching slightly.
Today, Julian was wearing a light blue dress shirt with the collar casually undone, revealing his defined collarbone, paired with white tailored trousers.
He looked effortlessly elegant and radiant, radiating a quiet but magnetic pull.
Scarlett's heart began to race against her will.
They hadn't seen each other for a few days.
After spending almost every day together recently, the sudden absence had felt surprisingly jarring.
The days were manageable, but at night, the thoughts she had been trying to suppress would rush back to the surface.
She kept analyzing whether her words to him that day had been too harsh, wondering if she had wounded his pride.
It was during those sleepless nights that she belatedly realized something—Julian had somehow carved out an irreplaceable spot in her heart.
