Seeing the situation spiraling, Stellan instinctively reached for his seatbelt, ready to jump in and break up the fight.
But to his surprise, a faint smile broke across Julian's lips.
He maintained his usual mild temper. "I can give you the opportunity to show off right now. But I highly doubt Scarlett will accept your efforts."
With that, Julian unbuckled his seatbelt and actually started to stand up, offering to switch seats.
Before he could even get up, Scarlett immediately pressed a hand to his shoulder, forcing him back down.
"Julian, sit down. There's absolutely no need to engage with him."
"As long as I know what you're doing, his opinion is completely irrelevant."
Scarlett instinctively defended Julian, her words explicitly treating Yardley like an absolute outsider.
Yardley's heart felt as though it had been shot full of holes.
His lips parted, but no words came out. He silently sat back down in his seat, pulled his scarf up, put on his headphones, and closed his eyes. He sat there as stiff as a statue.
He finally realized that in the face of Scarlett's unwavering bias toward Julian, whatever he said or did just made him look like a colossal joke.
Scarlett hadn't loved him for a long time.
Why did he keep humiliating himself, trying to force something he knew was impossible?
His innate pride and arrogance flared back to life. For the remainder of the flight, he maintained absolute silence and didn't utter another word.
Scarlett didn't think much of his sudden silence and soon drifted off to sleep.
At 2:00 PM Country H time, the plane touched down in Heston City, Country A.
Outside the airport, a man was already waiting at the arrivals gate, holding up a large banner.
Scarlett instantly recognized the familiar handwriting on the banner—it read 'Welcome Scarlett,' brushed in elegant calligraphy by her brother.
Her brother had always been brilliant at calligraphy since they were young.
Looking at the bold, sweeping strokes, it was obvious his skills had only improved.
In the reflection, Scarlett was leaning back with her eyes closed, while Julian sat right beside her. The two of them were whispering to each other, occasionally breaking into soft smiles.
The effortless, natural chemistry and comfort between them felt like a thousand tiny needles piercing Yardley's heart.
He took a deep breath, forcefully suppressing the burning jealousy and bitterness churning in his chest.
Yardley let out a cold laugh in his mind.
He told himself he didn't need to endure this humiliation anymore.
If Scarlett was going to be so ungrateful, then he, Yardley Flynn, had no reason to keep throwing himself at her feet.
He immediately texted Vincent Wallace, telling him to cancel all of their hotel rooms.
This was the most sought-after luxury hotel in Heston City. It was the kind of place you couldn't get into without booking at least half a month in advance.
Since Scarlett wanted to disrespect him so badly, he'd let her face the consequences.
