He Lost Me to His Best Friend novel Chapter 753

Julian led her out of the elevator and down the street to an authentic local restaurant in Heston City.

He really did know her well.

Whenever she visited a new city, she loved checking out the local culinary hotspots. As far as she was concerned, places like this had way more character than any pretentious revolving restaurant.

Since they had practically scored a free meal tonight, she ordered every signature dish on the menu.

She snapped photos from every angle and sent them to Talia, practically making her foodie bestie cry with envy.

They devoured a fantastic dinner.

By the time they returned to the hotel, it was around nine in the evening.

As they walked through the lobby toward the elevators, Scarlett finally couldn't hold back the question that had been eating at her.

"Julian, why does it feel like you're acting a little out of character lately?"

She needed to know why he was suddenly being so incredibly attentive. If they were going to be working together long-term, crossing into ambiguous romantic territory seemed like a dangerous complication.

He didn't break his stride. "Out of character? In what way?"

He looked so relaxed and open that she almost didn't know how to articulate it. She started to wonder if she was just overthinking things.

They stepped into the elevator together.

Meeting her bewildered gaze, his lips pressed into a faint smile. "Do you mean the fact that I've been practically throwing myself at you? Yes. I'm pursuing you."

His blatant honesty caught her completely off guard.

Her defensive instincts flared. She opened her mouth to say "No," but before the word could leave her lips, he pressed his index finger gently against them.

"I know the moment you hear those words, you'll panic and reject me outright."

"Arranged marriages turned love matches are all the rage these days. I think we should give it a shot."

"We grew up together. We know each other inside and out. My parents adore you, your mother and brother approve of me, and we don't hate each other. Why not try? If you give me the chance, I promise I'll give you everything I have."

His eyes blazed as he stared at her, brimming with unreserved tenderness and anticipation.

Scarlett felt as if something heavy had crashed right into her chest, leaving her breathless and trembling. She had no idea how to respond.

"Julian, I..."

Before she could finish, the elevator chimed, and the doors slid open.

Yardley and Sylvia were standing right there in the hallway.

The moment the doors parted, the air completely froze.
