He Lost Me to His Best Friend novel Chapter 767

Sylvia's heart hammered wildly against her ribs.

Yardley was equally on edge, his gaze darting nervously toward Scarlett, his palms slick with cold sweat.

Yet Scarlett sat entirely unbothered, perfectly still and poised. With her elegant neck held high, she looked like a serene swan, completely immune to the impending storm.

Her unshakeable calm made Yardley secretly anxious, but also deeply confused. He had just handed her a career-ending warning on a silver platter. Why wasn't she panicking? Was she genuinely not afraid of the fallout? Or did she somehow have enough backdoor connections to sweep an international scandal under the rug?

Frowning, Yardley forced himself to swallow his unease and watched the stage intently.

After the opening remarks from the host and keynote speeches from the VIPs, the awards segment finally began. The bronze and silver awards were handed out first to architects from Yorland Country and Country A, accompanied by polite, rolling applause.

Then came the climax of the night: the gold award.

When the presenter read the card and shouted Scarlett Langley's name, the auditorium erupted into a deafening, oceanic roar of applause.

Scarlett stood up with a radiant smile, turned to give a graceful bow to the audience, and walked unhurriedly toward the stage.

Sitting in the front row, Julian clapped continuously, his eyes brimming with absolute pride and adoration as he watched her.

Scarlett reached the center of the stage. But just as the presenter stepped forward with a warm embrace, preparing to hand over the crystal trophy, a harsh, jarring voice cut through the applause.

"I am reporting the gold award winner, Scarlett Langley, for plagiarism! I will present the evidence on the screen right now!"

The accusation hit the room like a bomb. A shockwave rippled through the elite crowd. Hundreds of heads snapped toward the source of the disruption in sheer disbelief.

The man screaming the accusation was none other than Dennis, the architect who had just accepted the silver award.

Clutching his silver trophy, he looked furious and morally outraged. He pointed a condemning finger straight at Scarlett on stage, unleashing a tirade in English about her shameless theft.

It was exactly what Sylvia had promised Yardley.

Even though he knew it was coming, seeing Scarlett standing on that massive stage—looking so slender and seemingly vulnerable—made Yardley's stomach twist.

*This is incredible! Publicly humiliated in front of the entire world!*

Her blood was practically boiling with joy. She ripped her phone out of her clutch, desperate to brag to her group chat, only to freeze. In her "Revenge Alliance" chat, both Melanie and Veronica had just posted photos from inside the venue.

Melanie had spammed a string of ecstatic, dancing emojis. Veronica had zoomed in on Scarlett's face, drawing a massive, bloody red "X" over it, cursing her to die.

Sylvia whipped her head around, scanning the massive auditorium. Sure enough, Melanie had actually brought Veronica along. The two of them were sitting in the very back row in their evening gowns, whispering to each other and looking incredibly smug.

Seeing Veronica here dampened Sylvia's mood slightly, but she quickly shook it off.

She turned to Yardley, noting how his face was so dark it looked like a thundercloud. "See? I told you. Scarlett is nothing but a plagiarizing fraud with zero actual talent."

"Good thing she got caught! Coming all the way to Country A just to humiliate our people! Thank God you divorced her, Yardley. Otherwise, she would have dragged you down with her!" Sylvia gloated, waving a hand dismissively.

Yardley's eyes darkened as a muscle in his jaw twitched violently.
