"The evidence is all on this USB drive," Stellan continued. "Their next move is to take the initially laundered cash and run it through a second wash. Right now, they're scouting for a suitable corporate investment target."
Scarlett smiled knowingly. "I actually already found that out. Their targets are major real estate players—like the Flynns, Thorne Industries, or the Schmidts."
Stellan looked surprised. "How did you know that?"
After she explained what she had overheard via the hidden cameras the night before, it clicked for him.
"No wonder Sylvia didn't go straight to Yardley and went to Veronica Thorne instead."
"My latest intel says Thorne Industries is planning to accept this massive 'investment.' They're going to funnel it into the cultural tourism town project they're developing with the Flynn Group."
Hearing this, Scarlett practically lit up. "Really? That's amazing!"
"Madeleine has always been against building that project next to The Breeze Pagoda, but the local government in Sutton City insisted on pushing it through. If Thorne Industries gets dragged down by this dirty money, the tourism project will definitely be halted! And the Thornes will take a massive fall!"
Leaning against the wall nearby, smoking a cigarette, Julian had been listening quietly. He exhaled a plume of smoke and remarked, "Looks like it's almost time to pull the net closed."
Scarlett nodded. She tossed the USB drive toward him, and he caught it effortlessly out of the air.
