To his absolute shock, before the service even began, Corinne, his sisters, Sylvia, and Veronica all marched through the doors.
Despite knowing this was a memorial, Corinne was wearing a vibrant green sheath dress. She was dripping in flashy jewelry and wore heavy makeup, looking as though she were attending a gala rather than a funeral.
Melanie had followed suit, strutting in wearing a blinding magenta gown and oversized statement earrings. Only Clarissa and Catherine had the decency to wear black.
Corinne spotted Yardley standing by the portrait and her face twisted in fury.
"Yardley Flynn, have you lost your mind?!"
"You divorced that woman ages ago! What possesses you to throw such a lavish memorial? Do you have money to burn?!"
Mindful of the high-profile guests turning to stare, Corinne kept her voice somewhat lowered, but her venom was palpable.
Yardley shot her a glacial glare. "This is my business, Mom. Stay out of it."
"Stay out of it?! How could I stay out of it?!"
Furious, Corinne shoved Yardley aside and stormed straight toward Jacqueline.
Seeing Jacqueline sitting peacefully while Zara walked Dawn around nearby, Corinne's face darkened further.
"Jacqueline Langley, you really have no shame!" Corinne sneered, planting her hands on her hips as she towered over the older woman.
