When Kane received the message, he was sipping tea in Heath Sheridan's office.
They had just finalized a multibillion-dollar investment with Veronica's father and signed the contracts. Both men were feeling incredibly smug, happily envisioning their future.
Heath was all smiles, holding his teacup with both hands, his eyes gleaming with greed and excitement.
"Mr. Stetson, let me raise a glass of tea to you, and to our expansive future!"
"Once this money hits Thorne Industries and washes through their projects, it'll be completely clean!"
"From now on, half of Bay City will belong to you! When that happens, you'll undoubtedly be the richest man in the city. Crushing the Flynn Group is just a matter of time!"
The flattery made Kane grin from ear to ear.
A disdainful smirk tugged at the corner of his mouth. "I gave the Flynn Group a chance to play ball, but they didn't appreciate it!"
Kane viciously rubbed his nose. "That Yardley Flynn really doesn't know what's good for him!"
"Once I learn the ropes of the real estate industry through Thorne Industries, the first thing I'll do is bankrupt the Flynn Group! I want to see how arrogant Yardley can be then!"
"Absolutely, boss. I've followed you for years, and I have zero doubts about your capabilities!"
Heath continued to kiss up, and they happily clinked their teacups together.
Just then, Kane's phone buzzed on the table.
Seeing a text from his cousin Sylvia, Kane set his teacup down and opened it.
The moment his eyes registered the photo and the accompanying text, the smile froze on his face.
In the picture, Scarlett and Julian were standing side by side at the memorial service.
Handsome and beautiful, absolutely radiant, looking like a match made in heaven. They didn't look dead in the slightest!
