He Lost Me to His Best Friend novel Chapter 863

"Crash!"

Before Heath could even attempt to defend himself, Kane delivered a brutal kick that sent him flying to the floor.

Heath slammed heavily against the mahogany tea cabinet like a discarded ragdoll.

The impact knocked a boiling teapot off the counter, shattering it and splashing scalding water all over Heath's chest.

His face contorted in agony. He scrambled backward on the floor, desperately trying to catch his breath.

"Boss, please, let me explain!"

Realizing Kane genuinely wanted to kill him, Heath dropped to his knees, begging for his life.

"Explain?" Kane roared through gritted teeth, his eyes bloodshot as he grabbed a fistful of Heath's hair. "Go ahead. Let's hear this explanation."

Heath's face was a mess of tears and snot.

"The wind and waves were insane at the estuary! When they fell in, they didn't even struggle. I watched them get sucked right into the undercurrent! Nobody could survive that!"

"Then who the hell is standing at that memorial right now?! Ghosts?!"

Kane bellowed, raising his hand to deliver a deafening slap across Heath's face.

With a sharp crack, blood instantly trickled from the corner of Heath's mouth. His head snapped to the side, ears ringing violently.

"I... I really don't know, boss! Could it be... could someone have hired lookalikes to scare us? Or maybe..."

Heath babbled incoherently, desperate to find an excuse to save his own skin.

"Lookalikes?" Kane scoffed, a look of extreme cruelty flashing in his eyes. "Do you think I'm an idiot?"

He let go, letting Heath slump to the floor like a puddle of mud.

Kane pulled a handkerchief from his pocket, wiped his hands with an expression of pure disgust, and tossed the cloth onto Heath's face.

"I'm giving you one last chance. Find a way to end them."
