He Lost Me to His Best Friend novel Chapter 864

Yardley, a man who prided himself on never losing his temper or swearing in public, couldn't hold back the vulgarities.

He pointed a shaking finger at the event planner, his glare sharp enough to kill.

Terrified, the planner shuddered, apologized profusely, and scrambled out of sight.

The guests who had gathered earlier quickly realized the tension and began making their excuses, fleeing the scene.

The grand hall rapidly emptied out.

Only a few staff members scurried around, hastily dismantling the setup.

Yardley stood frozen, his face icy, his fists clenched so tightly his knuckles turned white. He pressed his lips together in a thin line, feeling as if every ounce of strength had been drained from his body.

Scarlett walked over to him.

When Yardley saw her, for the first time, he didn't offer a gentle smile. His eyes were cold, his entire demeanor rigid. His voice was completely devoid of warmth.

"Are you having fun?"

Scarlett replied blankly, "What are you talking about?"

A mocking smirk tugged at the corner of his mouth. "I never in a million years imagined you'd fake your own death just to send my family to prison. Do you hate them that much, Scarlett?"

Scarlett had genuinely harbored a tiny shred of respect for him.

After all, his reaction to her 'death' hadn't been calculated or cold like his family's. It had been filled with genuine grief.

But the moment those words left his mouth, that last shred of respect evaporated.

She looked at him coldly and said, "First of all, I didn't fake my death. Julian and I were in a severe accident in Country A. Surviving was pure luck."

"Secondly, I want you to get this straight: I never planned to put your family behind bars. Their own insatiable greed caught up with them. They did this to themselves."
