He Lost Me to His Best Friend novel Chapter 872

Elara’s complete lack of filter—cornering them about marriage and demanding a grandchild in the same breath—sent a shockwave around the table.

"Pfft!"

Julian had just taken a sip of water, and upon hearing his mother's words, his eyebrows shot up and he nearly choked. He swallowed forcefully, awkwardly grabbing a napkin to cover his mouth while shooting a desperate look at his mother.

"Mom, we're trying to have a nice dinner. Why are you bringing this up? I'm warning you, Scarlett is just starting to recover from everything. Don't put this kind of pressure on her!"

Julian's immediate, fierce protectiveness over Scarlett made the entire table burst into laughter.

Jacqueline chuckled brightly. "What pressure? I completely agree with your mother! You two aren't getting any younger. Once you're married, the natural next step is to start a family. It makes perfect sense!"

She waved her hand dismissively. "Elara is retired, I'm semi-retired, and Dominic is retiring soon. You have an entire squad of people ready to help take care of a baby! You have absolutely nothing to stress about. Just go ahead and start planning for a family. We older folks will handle all the tedious details for you!"

Jacqueline had never been one to hide her feelings, and the more time she spent with Elara, the more the two matriarchs bonded. They had both noticed that after surviving the ordeal in Country A together, the bond between Scarlett and Julian had deepened significantly. However, Scarlett had been burned by love in the past, and Julian was so deeply respectful of her boundaries that he was overly cautious.

The mothers knew that if they didn't step in to break the ice and bulldoze through the hesitation, the couple might drag their feet forever.

With Jacqueline and Elara teaming up, both Scarlett and Julian were left blushing furiously at the dinner table.

Scarlett looked completely flustered. "Mom, do you hear yourself right now?"

Elara casually slid the rest of the freshly peeled prawns onto Scarlett's plate. "I'm not talking nonsense. I'm being perfectly practical. Scarlett, our families know everything about each other. Your mother and I are like sisters, and you and Julian are in love. Honestly, there is nothing left to hesitate over. Just take the leap."
