He Lost Me to His Best Friend novel Chapter 873

"Hahaha..."

Joyous laughter immediately erupted around the dining table.

Dominic Croft couldn't hide his delight. He poured himself a glass of red wine, took a hearty sip, and let out a deeply satisfied laugh. "If you pull that off, Scarlett, you'll be an absolute hero to the Croft family. Elara and I only ever had Julian, and my brothers only had one son each. My old man almost cursed us out of the family for it. If you give the Croft family a soccer team, I swear to you, when I pass away, every cent of my estate goes to you and those kids. Julian gets nothing!"

Elara immediately raised both hands. "I second that!"

Jacqueline laughed out loud. "Then it's a deal!"

Unable to stay seated, Dominic personally ladled a bowl of the rich Ginseng and Cordyceps Chicken Soup and placed it carefully in front of Scarlett. "The future of the Croft family... is in your hands now, Scarlett!"

Listening to the elders playfully gang up on them, Scarlett fully understood that this was their way of showing complete and total acceptance. A profound warmth spread through her chest.

She quickly stood up to accept the bowl, smiling politely. "Thank you, Mr. Croft."

Elara beamed, her eyes crinkling at the corners. "What's this 'Mr. Croft' nonsense? You're about to be officially part of the family. Start practicing calling him Dad!"

The conversation excitedly shifted to picking the perfect date for the couple to get their marriage license. Right then and there, over the dinner table, the plan was set.

Everyone was eagerly counting down the days. After a quick consultation of the calendar, they all unanimously agreed on next Monday. It was considered a highly auspicious date, perfectly suited for a union.

It seemed that the older people got, the more they longed for a house full of children and grandchildren, craving a lively, joyous home.

Jacqueline couldn't even remember how many years the house had been quiet and empty before finally experiencing this kind of warmth. When she first heard the news of Scarlett's pregnancy years ago, she thought the house would finally come alive. She never imagined that reality would be so cruel, plunging them into such a long, grueling period of darkness.
