He Lost Me to His Best Friend novel Chapter 877

Seeing how incredibly serious Julian looked, Scarlett couldn't help but laugh.

"Come on, do you really think I'm that petty?"

"Besides, I have a past too. If we're talking about giving our all to someone, I gave far more of myself, and far more blindly, than you ever did. Didn't I?"

A visible wave of relief washed over Julian. "That's good. I was honestly struggling with how to answer that question."

"I was terrified that telling you the truth would upset you. But my personality wouldn't let me lie to you."

Scarlett looked at him steadily. "Julian, your honesty is exactly what I appreciate the most."

"Alright, you've officially cleared up my last remaining doubt. Let's drink to your brutal honesty, shall we?"

Julian reached for the bottle and poured a generous splash of wine into both glasses, handing one to Scarlett.

She tilted her head back and downed the wine in one smooth sip. Then, she rested her chin in her hand, tilting her head as she looked at him with a sweet, disarming smile.

Julian was a thirty-year-old man, but given his lack of romantic experience, he had absolutely zero defense against the woman he loved staring at him like that.

His heart began hammering violently against his ribs.

The heat that he had been desperately trying to suppress for the past few weeks suddenly surged through him with a vengeance.

Unable to hold back the overwhelming urge a second longer, he shifted his weight, pinning Scarlett back against the soft cushions of the sofa.

He hooked a finger under her chin, staring down at her face with dark, intoxicated eyes, hovering just inches from her lips.

Scarlett let out a soft, involuntary gasp, but she quickly recovered.

Meeting his intense, desire-filled gaze, she took a deep breath and let her eyes flutter shut. Her chest rose and fell rapidly.

They were so close they could feel the heat of each other's breath.

Feeling the sheer, restrained power radiating from his body, it felt as if a match had been struck right against Scarlett's heart. The deepest, most primal flutter of anticipation ignited within her.

Without thinking, she reached up and looped her arms around the back of his neck.
