On the other end of the line, Chatwin's voice was grim and urgent, pitched incredibly low to avoid detection.
"Talia and I are fine for now. I know the legal loopholes they need to exploit, and Talia is playing her part perfectly in front of Heath. He still trusts her completely. We've successfully infiltrated their inner circle."
"They just found out someone is digging into them. They're preparing to take the core ledger and all the details of Kane's laundering network and completely relocate before the authorities can move in."
"I can't stay on the phone for long or they'll get suspicious. You need to get the authorities to move immediately! If you wait any longer, they're going to vanish with everything!"
Hearing this, Julian's grip on the phone tightened so hard his knuckles turned white.
Scarlett stepped up to Julian's side, meeting his tense gaze before speaking directly toward the phone.
"Chatwin, we understand. Please, whatever you do, stay safe and protect Talia. Do not take any unnecessary risks."
"Don't worry, I know what I'm doing. Gotta go," Chatwin replied without a second of hesitation before the line went dead.
Realizing the absolute severity of the situation, Julian immediately dialed his uncle, Douglas Croft, informing him of the critical update so the authorities could act fast.
There was no time to lose. Scarlett and Julian practically threw on their clothes and rushed out the door with Gordon.
Since both Scarlett and Julian had been drinking wine, they couldn't legally drive. Gordon had to be their designated driver.
As Gordon peeled out of the villa's driveway, he still looked a bit dazed and panicked.
"Julian, Scarlett, where exactly are we going? I mean, we're just civilians! What are we supposed to do against an organized crime ring? We're just going to get in the way!"
"We can't fight them," Scarlett said sharply, "but we can find a way to stall them."
Julian looked over at her, a fierce, impressed smile touching his lips. "Scarlett, you read my mind again."
Scarlett pressed her lips into a thin line, pulled out her phone, and dialed Heath's number.
