He Lost Me to His Best Friend novel Chapter 931

Veronica froze in shock as a fleet of official vehicles pulled up to the construction site.

Before she could even process what was happening, several agents stepped out.

When she realized they were flanking the senior city regulators of Bay City and Sutton City, all the blood drained from her face.

Having dealt with municipal departments for years, she knew exactly what their presence meant.

Yardley’s expression darkened instantly.

Julian stepped forward, offering a curt nod. "Gentlemen. Apologies for involving you at this hour, but it was an emergency."

"My grandmother came out here alone to protect The Breeze Pagoda, knowing she was ill," Julian explained calmly. "Instead of listening to reason, they ordered the crew to blast her with water cannons. She's currently in the ICU fighting for her life."

Hearing that Professor Dawson was in critical condition, both Veronica and Yardley felt their stomachs drop.

Veronica, relying on past acquaintances, quickly plastered on a fake smile and stepped forward. "Gentlemen, it's a misunderstanding. The situation is—"

They didn't even look at her, waving a hand to cut her off. "We already know exactly what the situation is."

"For the past two years, regulations regarding the protection of heritage sites have become increasingly strict," one official said coldly. "From the moment this project was approved, you were warned repeatedly: the structural integrity of The Breeze Pagoda must be preserved at all costs."

"Thank you," Julian replied modestly. "I'll do everything I can."

Standing behind him, Scarlett smiled, genuinely proud of the recognition he was receiving.

Suddenly, the official turned to her. "And if I'm not mistaken... you must be Ms. Scarlett Langley, the recent recipient of the international architecture award?"

Scarlett blinked, slightly flattered. "Yes, sir. That's me."

The official looked at her with pure admiration.
