"But if he stays stubbornly on this destructive path, bankruptcy is right around the corner for them," Julian finished for her.
"What about the Thorne family, though?" Scarlett asked, her expression turning serious. "Quentin Thorne isn't someone to underestimate. I remember them trying to hijack this project and steal our resources multiple times during the early phases. They're still keeping a very close eye on this property."
Julian's expression darkened slightly. "Quentin has been obsessed with this landmark since day one. He's been itching for a piece of the pie."
"What he doesn't know is that we're the ones pulling the strings."
"Exactly. But once we announce that our headquarters is moving in, it's going to send shockwaves through the old-money real estate sector. Thorne Industries will definitely get wind of it soon."
Scarlett looked unfazed, her confidence unwavering. "With where Croft Group is right now, and with my brother coming back to the country soon, we have nothing to hide."
"We're officially married, and my brother has been steadily transferring his assets back here. With his financial backing, we can afford to take massive risks. We're going to build something incredible."
Julian looked down at the fiery ambition dancing in her eyes and chuckled warmly. "Your brother truly is a financial prodigy. To build that kind of staggering wealth in such a short amount of time, despite everything he's been through... it's incredible."
He gently took both of her hands in his. "When he gets back, I'm going to formally visit the Langley family and ask for your hand properly. I want our wedding to be on the exact same day Croft Group moves into Zenith Tower."
She opened her mouth, choked with emotion, trying to find the words to answer him.
Suddenly, a shrill, drippingly sarcastic female voice echoed from behind them.
"Wow. Throwing a massive party just to pick up somebody else's used baggage? Is that really something to brag to the whole city about?"
The voice dripped with jealousy. "Julian, I seriously have to ask—have the Crofts just never seen the world? Or have you just never met a real woman before?"
