Helena was making a massive gamble. She was betting everything on the fact that Sebastian needed her tonight to provoke Janetta's jealousy. If that was true, she needed to establish absolute dominance right here in front of Janetta's spy.
Regardless of what Sebastian's endgame was, she refused to swallow her pride anymore. Seven years of marriage. Seven years of humiliation. She was completely done.
"If there's no time, I'll just wash this off and go to bed early. Pregnancy is exhausting anyway," Helena said flatly.
With that, she stood up and prepared to walk out.
The room was so dead silent you could hear a pin drop.
As Helena brushed past Sebastian, his hand shot out, wrapping firmly around her wrist.
Helena frowned, but to her surprise, it didn't hurt. He had controlled his strength perfectly, merely stopping her in her tracks.
Sebastian looked down at her, his dark eyes unreadable. Before she could demand he let go, he spoke.
"If you don't like it, we change it."
"Mr. Hayes—" the stylist gasped, her eyes going wide in disbelief.
Even Helena was caught off guard. She hadn't actually expected him to take her side.
Sebastian didn't offer any further explanation. He released Helena's wrist and slowly turned his lethal gaze onto the stylist.
"You have thirty minutes to fix this. If it isn't perfect, pack your bags and get out of this city. You're done working in this industry."
It wasn't a threat. It was an absolute command.
The stylist's face drained of color, cycling through shock and sheer terror, but she didn't dare utter a single word of protest.
Helena's lips parted slightly in surprise.
Sebastian looked back at her. "Tell her exactly what you want. If she can't deliver, she's finished. But Helena, I won't tolerate you throwing a tantrum just to be difficult."
It was half-indulgence, half-warning.
The woman standing before him was elegant and sophisticated, radiating a soft, breathtaking maternal glow. The natural styling highlighted all her striking features. She was luminous, elegant, and absolutely unforgettable.
Sebastian's gaze turned somber. In all their years together, he had never seen her look quite like this.
Right when their relationship had shattered beyond repair, she had suddenly blossomed into a completely different version of herself. A strange, suffocating wave of emotion crashed against his ribs, but he ruthlessly shoved it down.
He glanced down at his watch. 7:20 PM.
His driver was already idling out front. He casually gestured for her to follow, leading her out of the estate.
They climbed into the back seat, and the luxury car glided smoothly toward the venue.
By the time they pulled up to the red carpet, it was 7:50 PM. Sebastian Hayes was officially late.
Sitting in the darkened cabin, Helena felt a heavy knot of anxiety twist in her stomach. Given everything that had happened recently, she was genuinely terrified of him. She never knew when he was going to snap.
