"And no matter what, you and Sebastian are legally married! The fact that he hasn't said a damn word in your defense proves he's a piece of trash. That Asshole!" Sophia ranted passionately, entirely oblivious to the lethal silence on the other end.
Give it back, Helena mouthed desperately. She lunged upward on her toes, trying to snatch the phone out of his hand.
It was useless. Sebastian was significantly taller. He effortlessly hoisted the phone out of her reach, lowered his head, and crushed his lips fiercely against hers.
Helena's eyes blew wide open. His sudden, dominating kiss effectively silenced her protests. Meanwhile, Sophia's colorful insults continued to echo down the quiet corridor.
"Lena? Lena?" Sophia suddenly paused, sensing something was wrong.
Helena heard her perfectly. She struggled wildly, but the harder she fought, the more aggressively Sebastian dominated her mouth.
Then, a horrifying realization hit Sophia. Over the line, she could hear Helena's heavy, ragged breathing, followed by Sebastian's low, dangerous drawl.
"It seems you have quite a high opinion of me, Ms. Zane."
Sophia's soul practically left her body. She wasn't scared for herself—she was terrified for her best friend.
"Sebastian, I'm the one who insulted you! Don't you dare take it out on Helena!" she shrieked in absolute panic.
Helena was practically dizzy from the bruising kiss, her lungs burning for air.
Before she could regain her senses, Sebastian spoke smoothly into the receiver. "Dinner is on me tonight."
With that, he ended the call.
Helena glared daggers at him. "What are you planning to do to her?"
He ignored the question entirely, glancing nonchalantly at his luxury watch. "Weren't you meeting at five-thirty? We're going to be late."
