He Never Loved Me Until the Day I Finally Left Him novel Chapter 225

If it weren't for everything that had happened in the past, Sophia would have sworn Sebastian was madly in love with Helena. Even toward Sophia, he was perfectly polite and non-threatening. She almost got the illusion that he was treating her with respect solely because she was Helena's friend.

The barbecue joint was completely open, and since the couple had been dominating the headlines lately, patrons began noticing them.

Glancing at her phone, Sophia saw that the top trending news was still about Helena and Sebastian. She stayed quiet.

Halfway through the meal, Sebastian stepped outside to take a business call, finally giving Sophia a chance to speak.

"Helena, what is going on with you two?" Sophia asked with a heavy frown, gesturing toward the door. "He's acting very different from what I expected."

Helena didn't answer immediately. Sophia's eyes were filled with genuine concern.

"He and I..." Helena finally spoke softly, "it's just a transaction. He uses me in public to provoke Janetta, and in exchange, I get the divorce agreement."

She didn't hide anything from Sophia, explaining the entire situation.

Sophia was left speechless. "Then why is he..." she trailed off, her frown deepening. Something felt off, though she couldn't quite pinpoint it. If it was just an act for the public, he didn't need to be so meticulously affectionate. The paparazzi only needed a few photos to spin a fairy-tale romance.

But the idea that Sebastian actually loved Helena felt like a sick joke. Helena had spent seven agonizing years at the Hayes Estate swallowing her pride. Back then, he hadn't shown her a shred of basic decency.

Ultimately, Sophia didn't know what to say.
