He Never Loved Me Until the Day I Finally Left Him novel Chapter 233

Sebastian's gaze grew even darker.

This time, still without a word, he closed the distance between them.

Helena was too engrossed in her phone call to notice his approach.

"I can handle this myself..." she sighed in frustration.

It was Julian Shen on the other end of the line.

She had ignored his calls one too many times, and she knew that if she didn't answer soon, Julian would lose his temper.

So, she picked up.

All she could do was try to placate him calmly.

Julian remained silent on his end of the line for a moment. "Lena, are you reluctant to let Sebastian go? Just like back then, when you were willing to give up everything for him."

His words hung heavily in the air, leaving her momentarily speechless.

But she ultimately gave him a firm answer. "I'm not reluctant. Jul—"

Before she could finish her sentence, a powerful arm wrapped fiercely around her waist.

She gasped, a flash of panic crossing her eyes.

She instantly realized it was Sebastian.

A low, demanding voice rumbled right next to her ear, laced with dark suspicion. "Who are you on the phone with, hmm?"

Helena stared at him, caught off guard.

Julian hadn't hung up, but he remained dead silent.

A cold sweat broke out across her back, terrified that Julian's volatile temper was about to detonate.

For a split second, the tension in the room grew suffocating.

Sebastian's eyes naturally drifted down to her phone screen.

She hadn't saved Julian's contact info, so only a string of numbers was displayed.

"I'm asking you. Who's on the phone?" Sebastian repeated, his tone dropping dangerously low.

Her lips parted slightly. "A friend from work. Since we're getting a divorce, I'm going to have to find a new job eventually."

Internally, she was praying that Julian heard her and had the sense to keep his mouth shut.

Sebastian just stared at her, his expression giving away nothing of whether he bought the lie or not.

Helena froze in his grip.

The oven timer was already beeping.

Sebastian watched her pull away from his embrace.

He remained rooted to the spot, but his predatory gaze burned holes into her back.

She could feel the heavy weight of his stare.

But she refused to turn around, slipping on oven mitts to pull the cake out and set it on the rack to cool.

She turned off the oven.

Then she methodically peeled off the mitts, moving with practiced grace.

Throughout the entire process, she didn't say a single word to him, wrapping herself in absolute silence.

Only when everything was cleaned up did she finally turn to leave the kitchen.

Sebastian didn't seem bothered by the cold shoulder, simply trailing behind her in silence.

But the oppressive, suffocating tension rolling off him was becoming impossible to ignore.

The moment she stepped into the bedroom, she let out a sharp gasp.

Sebastian grabbed her, yanking her back and tossing her roughly onto the bed.
