This new version of Helena was terrifying. Janetta knew that she had lost her grip on the woman. With her usual tactics failing, she turned her tearful, pleading gaze back to Sebastian. He was her only hope now.
The sprawling villa was deathly quiet. Helena's footsteps echoed steadily against the hardwood floors. She didn't harbor any delusions or expectations when it came to Sebastian; she was already used to his cruelty. Besides, wasn't his whole goal to force Janetta into begging him? The outcome was painfully obvious.
A self-deprecating smirk tugged at Helena's lips as she mocked her own past foolishness. The sound was barely a whisper, swallowed by the silence. It was fine. Now that Janetta was back, she no longer had to play her part in Sebastian's twisted little show.
"Sebastian..." Janetta whimpered behind her, her voice dripping with sorrow.
Then, Sebastian's deep, steady voice rang out, laced with a chilling indifference. Before Helena could process it, he had closed the distance and grabbed her hand.
Helena frowned, looking down at his fingers interlaced with hers, completely baffled.
"I'll walk you upstairs," Sebastian murmured to her. "If you're not feeling well, I'll call the doctor."
Helena stared at him. She couldn't detect a single trace of deceit in his eyes. He looked entirely sincere. Was he really that committed to this act? she wondered.
"Alright," she replied calmly, playing along.
"Sebastian!" Janetta's composure finally shattered.
Even Arthur watched in shock, but Sebastian's posture gave him his orders. "Did you not hear my wife?" Sebastian asked without turning around, his tone dropping a few degrees.
"Yes, sir," Arthur quickly bowed his head.
