He Never Loved Me Until the Day I Finally Left Him novel Chapter 416

"As long as she avoids eye strain and gets plenty of rest, she shouldn't face any issues. She'll need routine check-ups—every three months for the first year, then twice a year, and eventually an annual review."

"Understood," Sebastian acknowledged.

The room drifted into a lull.

Helena heard every word of their exchange.

Yet she sat there like a porcelain doll, motionless and utterly silent.

It was as if her own miraculous recovery meant absolutely nothing to her.

Having delivered his final instructions, the doctor nodded to the nurses, and they quietly exited the room.

The heavy door clicked shut, leaving Helena and Sebastian alone in the oppressive stillness.

She stared right through him with a deadened gaze.

Sebastian didn't rush to fill the silence either.

"Sebastian." She finally broke the quiet, her voice painfully flat. "The shares are yours now. All that's left is some minor paperwork. Having Hope around doesn't benefit you anymore. I'm taking her and leaving."

Her first thought, her only thought, was getting her daughter away from him.

Surprisingly, Sebastian didn't snap.

Instead, he looked at her with unsettling calm and asked a brutally practical question.

"How exactly do you plan on moving her? She's in the NICU. She hasn't even cleared the critical window yet."

A fleeting flicker of hesitation crossed Helena's face.

Sebastian's expression darkened as he studied her.

When he finally met her eyes again, his gaze was intensely serious.

The raw intensity in his stare sent a treacherous chill straight through her heart.

Outwardly, she maintained her flawless armor of indifference.

"I won't lie to you about Hope's condition," Sebastian stated slowly. "It's grim. The surgery was barely a success—all they did was manage to keep her from dying on the operating table. She likely won't survive the next three days."

"They are handing out critical condition notices practically by the hour."

"And even if by some miracle she makes it through this initial window, she'll still be fighting an impossible uphill battle."

He delivered the devastating prognosis while holding her gaze captive, refusing to let her look away.

Refusing to back down, she enunciated every single word with sharp clarity.

"Sebastian, The Divorce Agreement is signed. As soon as the final paperwork clears, we are completely severing ties."

"I did everything you demanded. Hope was born. Wynn is gone. I have no reason, nor any obligation, to stay."

"You swore you would let me walk away. I expect you to keep your word."

"If you don't, how on earth are you going to explain yourself to Janetta?"

Every word was a calculated jab aimed directly at his ego.

She delivered them without an ounce of hesitation.

His jaw tight, Sebastian closed the distance between them.

He towered over her, his eyes blazing with dark defiance. "Fine. Let's say I let you walk out that door with her. Where exactly do you plan to go?"

Her lips parted to answer.

But before she could form a single syllable, he ruthlessly cut her off.
