For Sebastian Hayes, reaching this point today was an inevitable outcome.
It was bound to happen sooner or later.
On the surface, nothing seemed out of the ordinary.
Yet, a suffocating wave of despair continued to crush his chest.
Because of it, he grew increasingly quiet.
"Also, find the best doctor to treat her," Sebastian instructed Carter Miles, his voice low as a sudden thought occurred to him.
"And if she asks for anything, fulfill her requests," he added, finishing his thought.
Carter nodded. "Understood. Don't worry, I'll take care of it."
With those words, Carter turned to leave and handle the arrangements.
Just as he turned, Sebastian suddenly called out to him.
"Mr. Hayes?" Carter paused, looking back at him.
"Notify her to come in person for the divorce proceedings," Sebastian finished quietly.
Carter was stunned.
He knew perfectly well that Helena Wallace didn't need to be there for the divorce to be finalized.
Sebastian didn't need to be there either.
They already had the signed divorce agreement.
With Sebastian's status and power, this was a trivial matter.
The lawyers could handle everything behind the scenes.
But since his boss had given the order, Carter had no choice but to comply. "Understood. Don't worry, I'll notify Madam."
Sebastian said nothing more.
Having followed Sebastian for years, Carter generally understood his boss's temperament.
Sebastian still wanted to see Helena.
He wasn't nearly as indifferent to her as he pretended to be.
This time, Carter turned and left without interruption.
Sebastian stood outside the door for a long time before quietly walking out of the hospital.
Helena stayed in the hospital for two days, in no rush to contact anyone.
The severe hemorrhage had left her incredibly weak.
It wasn't until she had finally rested enough and regained some color in her face that she requested to be discharged.
