He Never Loved Me Until the Day I Finally Left Him novel Chapter 455

It had nothing to do with the inside of the NICU; Helena had spotted someone lurking in a corner holding a phone.

They were filming.

But there was no way to tell how long this person had been recording.

Because almost instantly, their view was blocked by someone passing by.

By the time the camera angle shifted, the person with the phone was gone.

So, had this person caught the actual events on video?

Had they also noticed that something wasn't right?

Helena's heart hammered wildly against her ribs.

But just as quickly as the adrenaline spiked, she forced herself to calm down.

She knew that as long as she was still in Riverton, every move she made was likely under Sebastian's surveillance.

She couldn't afford to alert him.

After a moment of hesitation, she decided to call Lance James.

She chose him over Julian, still wary of Julian's explosive temper.

Compared to Julian, Lance was far more level-headed.

He sighed heavily through the receiver. "Lena, you finally resurfaced."

It didn't matter how worried they had been; everyone knew exactly where Helena was.

They all knew what had been going down at the Hayes Estate and exactly what hell Helena had been put through.

But their hands had been tied.

Lance was restricted by the Everett family.

Julian was held back by the Campbells.

The Everetts flat-out refused to let Lance interfere with anything concerning Helena, terrified of getting dragged into a scandal.

And Lance couldn't just ignore his mother's precarious standing within the family.

As for Julian, he had been pinned down by Donovan Campbell.

Donovan held absolute, unquestionable authority over the Campbell family.

If Julian wanted any hope of Helena marrying into the family in the future, he couldn't afford to declare war on his grandfather right now.

So, everything had been locked in a paralyzing stalemate.
