There was a moment of silence on the other end of the line.
A silence so heavy that Carter thought she was going to refuse outright.
After all, this was something that absolutely did not require her physical presence.
Carter's eyes nervously darted toward Sebastian.
Just as Carter felt his nerves fraying, Helena's voice finally came through the speaker.
"Fine. Let me know the time."
"Actually, it has to be today..." Carter said, feeling even more awkward.
This time, Helena remained completely silent.
Even Carter felt the demand was completely unreasonable.
The next second, Carter watched as Sebastian strode right over to him.
Sebastian snatched the phone out of his hand and took it off speakerphone.
Sebastian's deep voice came through the phone. "Helena, if you want this divorce, you need to be at the Civil Affairs Bureau right now. My patience and time are extremely limited."
His tone was laced with its usual commanding threat.
Leaving her with absolutely no room to negotiate.
Hearing his voice, Helena paused for a second.
But ultimately, she didn't refuse. "Fine. What time?"
"I'm coming to pick you up. I don't have the time to wait around for you to commute back and forth," Sebastian stated bluntly.
With that, he hung up the phone.
Carter didn't waste a second, instantly ordering the driver to head to Helena's current location.
Sebastian knew Helena wasn't going to run away.
After all, she was desperate to get her hands on that divorce certificate.
Yet, her very eagerness irritated him to his core.
She was so profoundly resistant to him.
She had even completely thrown away the fortune he had given her.
Did she really think this would severe all ties between them forever?
Perhaps it was merely his bruised masculine ego.
He simply couldn't accept it.
The colder and more indifferent Helena acted, the darker Sebastian's mood became.
With a stormy expression, he got into the car.
The Bentley headed straight for her mother's apartment.
By the time they arrived, Helena was already waiting downstairs.
Seeing his car pull up, she hesitated for a split second.
"How exactly do you plan on surviving now?" His face was freezing over as he finished his sentence.
She didn't respond.
She didn't want to answer any of his questions.
There was no point in explaining herself to him.
Their paths had permanently diverged.
Her complete lack of reaction only fueled his growing fury.
His expression darkened even further. "You threw away everything I gave you. What, are you planning to run off to Julian Campbell?"
Helena remained completely mute.
It seemed no matter what vile thing Sebastian said to provoke her.
She remained completely unflappable.
Finally, Sebastian's self-control snapped.
Without a second thought, he lunged forward, roughly grabbing her arm and pulling her directly in front of him.
The sheer force of his grip told him everything he needed to know.
He frowned deeply at her.
Even after being forcefully yanked against him, her face remained frustratingly impassive.
