The revelation left Sebastian utterly speechless.
He clearly hadn't seen this coming.
Julian watched Sebastian's stunned reaction and scoffed coldly.
"I will spend the rest of my life making sure you pay for this," Julian swore, letting his threat hang in the air.
Sebastian stood there, pure shock radiating from his eyes.
It took him a long time to even process the reality of what he'd just heard.
Before he could recover, an officer approached them.
Both men immediately snapped their attention to the cop.
"Mr. Campbell," the officer addressed Julian directly. "Helena wants to see you."
This meant she was finally awake.
Julian didn't hesitate, striding briskly toward her room.
Sebastian immediately tried to follow him.
But this time, the police stepped firmly in his path.
"Mr. Hayes, you cannot go in until all the legal procedures are cleared. We advised Ms. Wallace to contact a lawyer, and she specifically requested Mr. Campbell. Therefore, he is the only one permitted inside. I'm sorry," the officer stated calmly.
Sebastian froze in place, glaring darkly at the man. "And if I insist on going in?"
"Please don't make this harder than it has to be," the officer sighed. "There are a lot of protocols to follow, and this case has blown up. The press and Janetta's fans are swarming the perimeter like sharks. The higher-ups are under a lot of pressure. Even if you want to see her, you'll have to wait until she's discharged and transferred to the precinct."
Lowering his voice, the officer gave Sebastian a warning look. "If you force your way in now, you'll only make things worse for her."
That finally forced Sebastian to rein in his temper.
The core of the problem still revolved around Janetta.
Helena's reckless actions had handed Janetta all the power once again.
Sebastian gave a curt nod. "Fine."
Seeing that he had backed down, the officer didn't press the issue.
He turned and headed back into the room.
Sebastian remained standing in the corridor.
Janetta was still in surgery.
Given the complexity of operating on her brain, compounded by today's brutal crash, the situation was a chaotic nightmare.
