He Never Loved Me Until the Day I Finally Left Him novel Chapter 517

Only after she managed to coax Skye to sleep did Claire finally order her to go home.

"Alright, get out of here and rest. This child is utterly obsessed with you. Whenever she gets sick, she turns into a tyrant, and I can't do a thing about it," Claire sighed, shaking her head.

Deep down, she suspected this profound bond was simply the unbreakable tie between mother and daughter.

Helena smiled faintly. "It's fine. I'm just sorry for causing you so much trouble, Aunt Claire."

Claire waved off the apology. "I adore that little girl. Don't overthink it."

"Thank you, Aunt Claire," Helena said, genuine gratitude warming her voice.

Between the transatlantic flight and the hospital scare, she was running on fumes.

Wasting no time, she headed straight to the parking garage and drove back to her apartment.

During the drive, Julian called her.

She connected the call through her dashboard.

"Did she wear you out?" he asked warmly.

"A bit," Helena admitted. "But she's asleep now. It's nothing serious."

Julian let out a low chuckle. "She always clings to you like a lifeline."

They exchanged a few more casual remarks.

Suddenly, his tone turned serious. "Helena, if you want to bring her to live with us permanently, you can. We're more than capable of providing for her."

The offer stunned her into silence before she finally replied, "There's no need. She's safe with Aunt Claire. The child is incredibly perceptive. Bringing her here would invite too many questions we can't answer, and I refuse to subject her to that kind of anxiety. We can revisit it when she's older."

Julian didn't press the matter.

The line fell silent for a heavy moment before he whispered, "Helena, I miss you."

A knot formed in her throat.

While Julian was fiercely open about his devotion.

She remained crippled by her own emotional paralysis.

Her past had left her soul shattered to the point where receiving pure affection felt entirely foreign.

Sensing her discomfort, he effortlessly shifted gears with a light laugh. "Alright, keep your eyes on the road. I'll be touching down in Coralia tomorrow night."

"I'll pick you up," she promised.

He had always been there waiting for her whenever she traveled.
