"Not yet, I'm still in the Capital. My original flight was canceled, so I had to catch a connection. I won't land in Coralia until eleven. It's late, so don't bother coming to the airport. I'll grab a cab back," Julian explained, rubbing his temples to soothe a budding headache.
Helena smiled softly. "It's fine. I'll come pick you up."
Julian went quiet for a moment. His lips parted, but he swallowed the words he had been about to say.
He wanted to ask about her meeting with Sebastian.
But a phone call wasn't the right medium for that conversation.
Finally, he settled for a simple, "Alright. Drive safe."
"I will," she replied, her tone dripping with warmth.
They exchanged brief goodbyes and hung up.
When Helena turned around, she was mildly surprised to see Sebastian still standing there.
"Your husband?" he asked, his tone laced with a probing edge.
"Yes," she confirmed easily.
Sebastian nodded and didn't press further.
Helena gestured toward the door.
He took the cue, stepping out of the room.
As they exited, they found that their respective teams had also finished their meal and were exchanging pleasantries in the hallway.
Sebastian walked Helena to the hotel entrance.
Her driver was already waiting.
She gave him a courteous nod, slipped gracefully into the backseat, and the car merged seamlessly into the traffic.
Sebastian stood on the curb, his eyes tracking the taillights until they disappeared.
Carter stood quietly beside him.
"IGM ultimately agreed to our terms. I assume that was the result of your private discussion with Ms. Wallace?" Carter inquired.
Sebastian gave a low hum. "Yes. The final signing will take place in Riverton."
