He Never Loved Me Until the Day I Finally Left Him novel Chapter 527

His directive was crystal clear: he would open the door, but she had to walk through it herself.

Over the years, his attitude toward Janetta had flatlined into complete indifference.

It was likely maintained only for the sake of their son, Kyle.

Carter couldn't quite put his finger on it, but he had a distinct feeling that Janetta no longer mattered to his boss.

Wisely, he kept that observation to himself.

Instead, Sebastian pivoted the conversation. "Helena Wallace is married. Do we have any background on her husband?"

Carter blinked in surprise. "Actually, we don't. The CEO keeps a remarkably low profile. If this wasn't such a massive deal requiring her direct involvement, I doubt she would have even shown up. Very few people in the industry have ever seen her face, let alone know who she's married to."

Carter was speaking the truth.

In his estimation, anyone capable of building IGM from the ground up was undoubtedly married to someone of equal caliber.

Perhaps someone within the same elite circles.

After all, keeping proprietary tech closely guarded within a tight-knit family unit was the safest business strategy.

Sebastian didn't offer an immediate response. "Look into it."

"Understood," Carter nodded.

Just then, Sebastian's phone rang. Glancing at the caller ID, he answered immediately.

It was Kyle.

"Daddy, when are you coming? I hate the hospital. I want to go home," the little boy sniffled, sounding utterly miserable.

The hospital room was cavernous and empty.

It reeked of the sterile, chemical scent Kyle despised. Having spent a significant portion of his early childhood in medical facilities, he harbored a deep-seated aversion to them.

"I'm on my way right now," Sebastian promised softly. "Where's Mommy?"

"She said she had work to do and left," Kyle mumbled, clearly unfazed by her absence.

He was entirely used to Janetta abandoning him.

In fact, unless forced, he rarely even called her 'Mommy'—a silent, stubborn protest against her neglect.

Despite being mother and son, their dynamic felt more like that of strangers.

Janetta had never truly cared for him.

Sebastian was acutely aware of this.
