He Never Loved Me Until the Day I Finally Left Him novel Chapter 535

The two of them bantered back and forth effortlessly.

Julian motioned for Helena to start eating, and she shook her head with a helpless smile.

It took a few more minutes for him to finally coax Hope into behaving.

Only then did he hang up.

Helena looked up at him. "You took the afternoon off, so why aren't we going to the hospital to see her? Aunt Claire said her lungs are still acting up and she needs to stay admitted for a few more days."

"There's a gala tonight hosted by my grandfather's side of the family. We both need to be there," Julian explained simply.

Helena blinked in surprise, then nodded. "Alright."

If that was the case, they really couldn't visit the hospital.

When Helena and Julian first got married, Donovan Campbell had been highly opposed to the union.

But out of love for his grandson, the old man had eventually compromised.

Initially, Helena had been terrified. Her memories of life with the Hayes family were nothing short of a traumatic nightmare.

But at the Campbell estate, things were different. While Donovan didn't fully approve of her, he never mistreated her.

He never even subjected her to verbal abuse.

Donovan didn't force her to attend weekly family dinners, either.

Whenever she did visit, it was always with Julian right by her side.

Donovan publicly acknowledged her as the granddaughter-in-law of the Campbell family.

Whether that was because of her ties to the Everett family or something else entirely, she wasn't sure.

But at the very least, they coexisted in peace.

In the three years they had been married, Donovan had barely made any demands of her.

His only strict rule was that she spend every holiday season with the family.

By New Year's Day, she was free to fly back to the Capital.

All things considered, he treated her incredibly well.

Pulling herself from her thoughts, Helena asked, "What kind of gala is it tonight? Do you know the details?"

Julian thought about it for a second. "I didn't ask. But it'll mostly be people from the business sector."

She nodded in understanding.

She rarely attended these high-profile events, and her relationship with Julian wasn't public knowledge anyway.
