"And?" Sebastian countered flatly.
"Did I forbid you from buying clothes? Carter Miles deposits ten million dollars into your account every single month. Is that not enough to buy a damn dress? We are married, yes, but does that mean we must be physically glued to each other twenty-four seven? Does arriving in separate cars mean our marriage is failing?"
His questions were methodical, sharp, and totally merciless.
Instantly, Janetta's hysterical demands died in her throat.
It was true—Sebastian was incredibly generous with her allowance.
Ten million dollars a month was more than enough to buy a hundred designer gowns.
What he didn't know, however, was that she blew through the cash the second it hit her account.
She was addicted to gambling.
And it was a bottomless black hole.
To the public, she was a glamorous billionaire's wife, but in reality, she was drowning in catastrophic debt.
She had been using her status as 'Mrs. Hayes' as collateral to take out massive, shady loans.
She was absolutely terrified of Sebastian finding out.
That was the real reason she was so desperate to revive her acting career—she needed the paycheck to cover her tracks.
Naturally, she had zero cash left over to actually purchase a gown, unless Sebastian physically handed over his black card at the register.
"I..." Janetta stammered, completely out of excuses.
"Stop throwing tantrums, understood?" his voice was deadly quiet, his patience evaporating.
Janetta didn't dare push him any further.
Without another word, Sebastian moved to end the call.
Just before he could, she blurted out in a panic, "Seb! Julian's wife... her name is Helena Wallace!"
"And?" The temperature of his voice dropped to absolute zero.
"They look exactly alike..." she forced out.
"How is that any of your business?" he fired back.
Once again, Janetta was left completely speechless.
This time, Sebastian didn't give her a chance to recover. He delivered a low, lethal warning.
"Janetta, instead of sticking your nose into other people's lives, I suggest you start focusing on Kyle. He is your son, isn't he?" The threat hanging on his words was palpable.
